Andrew Schaller is the lone Republican in the District 6 race so far.
Schaller, an outspoken critic of Santamaria, in 2010 ran as an independent in his failed bid for the District 6 post.
Schaller, who owns an electronic banking company, has campaigned to cut county spending and consolidate county departments. He has publicly feuded with Santamaria through the years over a road project in his neighborhood.
Term limits prevent Santamaria, a Democrat, from running for a third term on the seven-member County Commission.
