The election of the next District 6 County Commissioner is taking place right now with early voting. Two candidates seeking that position have two very different Thanksgiving mindsets. As the old saying goes, “Actions speak louder than words.” So let’s take a look at the actions and postings of those two candidates.
Andy Schaller posted his thoughts about the holiday season on November 27, 2013, the day before Thanksgiving:
My heartfelt thought: This is the time of year to remember those less fortunate than I am. It is their time to receive our extra time, efforts and financial support. If you have extra time or money please help someone who is in real need not a politician with their hand held out for an election that is one year away. Remember the reason for the season is those in need not for those in their quest to promote themselves. We candidates for office have more than enough time for that next year….. My campaign will not start until after the first of the year. I realize my campaign is not the most important topic of the holidays! Happy Holidays to all!
Melissa McKinlay posted her thoughts about the holiday season on November 29, 2013, the day after Thanksgiving:
While I am proud and excited to be a first time candidate for office, I’m not going to enjoy this part of campaigning every month, but it is crucial.
We have only 2 days left in this campaign reporting period. We did so well in our fir…st month, outpacing what our opponents did in the first months of their campaigns, that I hope you can help me to keep the momentum up by going to our secure donation link below and contributing what you can afford before midnight tomorrow! Thank you so much!
